The Them2us mission to Tanzania, which began on November 7, 2024, marked a pivotal chapter in our ongoing commitment to fostering global connections and delivering meaningful support. As my 6th journey to Africa, this mission showcased the incredible impact of bringing people together across borders to create lasting change. With a focus on empowerment, collaboration, and community support, this initiative once again highlighted the transformative power of unity and purpose.
The mission began with a groundbreaking networking event that brought together over 469 Tanzanian professionals and American businesses. This gathering served as a vital platform for fostering cross-cultural partnerships, exchanging innovative ideas, and building bridges for future collaboration.
The event was further enriched by the inspirational opening remarks of U.S. Ambassador Dr. Battle, who emphasized the importance of partnerships in driving sustainable and impactful change.
A key highlight of the event was a distinguished panel of six experts, equally represented by Tanzanian and American professionals. The panelists—Dr. Sy’Quon D. Shaw, LauraRose London, Dr. John Wesolowski, Dr. Upendo Tulinagwe Kibona, Dr. Justus Kamara Anacleth, and Latifa Mkwawa—delivered compelling insights on fostering global partnerships and tackling challenges with innovative solutions. Their expertise and diverse perspectives created a dynamic and impactful dialogue.
The second day of the mission focused on a heartfelt visit to the UKWAMA Children’s Home, where we delivered essential supplies and food to support over 150 resilient children.
The preparation for this effort was a collective act of compassion. A team of five humanitarians from the U.S., accompanied by local escorts, guides, and a security team of 10, ventured into a bustling marketplace. Using their own resources, they purchased clothes, food, games, and other much-needed items, ensuring every child received meaningful support.
The journey to the orphanage was both challenging and inspiring, requiring a 12-hour trip to reach the remote village nestled high in the mountains. Upon arrival, the team was met with cheers and joy from the children and the surrounding community, a moment that underscored the profound impact of the mission.
During the visit, we spent several hours connecting with the children, touring the compound, and witnessing firsthand their resilience and potential. This experience reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to uplifting communities and investing in the leaders of tomorrow.
This mission would not have been possible without the steadfast support of our partners: JB Enterprise, Focus Social Club, and the U.S. Embassy in Tanzania. Together, we demonstrated the power of collective action, delivering not only resources but also hope, connection, and opportunity to communities in need.
Through missions like this, Them2us continues to fulfill its vision of bridging gaps, creating global networks, and empowering individuals to thrive. This journey is a reminder that when we come together with a shared purpose, we can achieve remarkable and lasting change.
Together, we are Them2us.
